I’m telling you, once you get started making this crochet food, it’s so hard to stop. I thought I’d offer you a quick modification to the free crochet tomato pattern so that you can turn your crochet tomato into an apple.
The changes are really only in the top of the fruit. You can see the link above for the base pattern for the tomato. Then come back here to work up the top portion for the apple.
What You’ll Need:
- 5.0 mm Crochet Hook
- I Love This Yarn! Solids – Red
- I Love This Yarn! Solids – Coffee
- I Love This Yarn! Solids – Jelly Bean
- Yarn Needle
Instructions to turn your crochet tomato into an apple:
Sl st in the 2nd chain from hook. Then slip stitch in each remaining chain. (5 total slip stitches)
Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the apple. Since this pattern is for a baby item, make sure to sew the additional, small pieces on tightly.
Sl st into 2nd chain from hook. Sc into next chain. Hdc into next 2 chains. Sc into next chain. Sl st into last chain.
Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the apple. Again, make sure to sew the small pieces on tightly as this is a baby item.
I told you it was pretty simple! Now you have a quick and easy pattern for both a tomato an an apple. Your kids will be thrilled to have some unique play food in their kitchen!
