While I’ve personally only tried a few of these so far, I’ve done some research into the best book subscriptions for 2021. I’ll be trying out a few more of these this year, and I hope the information here helps you choose one that fits with you. Here you’ll find some subscriptions that have just books, some that come with other items, some that are new books, and some that are used. Whatever you’re looking for in a subscription, one of these should definitely fit your style!
Book of the Month
This is one I’ve used myself and one of my favorite, so I definitely think it belong in the best book subscriptions for 2021. Book of the Month is $9.99 for your first month, unless you catch them on the months when they do $5 for your first book! Book of the Month always has free shipping as well. After your first month, each month is $14.99. You can get an annual subscription for $149.99, which comes out to $12.50 per month. You can add up to two add-ons each month, and those are $9.99 each. So, you could potentially get three books for around $35! These are all hardback books, so it’s a great deal. You choose the exact titles you want each month.

Bookcase.Club
Bookcase.Club is another of my favorites and it’s one of the least expensive options for new, and hardback, books. The subscription cost is $9.99 per month, but that cost goes down if you prepay ahead. There are 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month options, so it can be as low as $8.33 per month if you pick the 12-month option. Bookcase.Club has boxes for newborns all the way through adults. Wait for the details on why it’s an awesome deal… with the adult boxes, you get TWO books. The kids boxes come with two books, and then an activity book of some sort. For this one, you can choose your genre from a limited selection, but the books are a surprise. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with my picks though!
Used Books Monthly
Perfect for those who are environmentally conscious, this one is as its name implies, used books. The boxes start at $5.79/month for one book. You can choose between the 1-book, 2-book, or 4-book subscriptions. They have a variety of genres to choose from, but the books you receive are a surprise each month. Who can pass up some well-priced used books? That makes it a great contender for the best book subscriptions for 2021.

Boxwalla Book Box
The Boxwalla Book Box is $29.95 per month. You receive two books in each box; however, this box does not come every month. Instead, you get your two books every two months. Some of the books are classics and some are newer releases.

Fresh Fiction
The Fresh Fiction subscription box is $25.95 per month if you pay month-to-month. If you choose to prepay for three months, your price drops to $24.95 per month. With this subscription, you receive two to five new releases in either print or e-book format. They are surprise picks, and include genres like romance, mystery, and more, but the focus is primarily on romance.

The Book Drop
The Book Drop goes as low as $8 a month depending on what age you choose and the length of your subscription prepay. You receive one book per month. The longer the subscription prepay, the cheaper your monthly price goes! The Book Drop has boxes for children, middle grade, young adult, and adult (including large print). The books come from an independent bookstore, so if you’re looking to support a small business, this is the subscription for you! You get to choose your genre (or a mix of two genres), but the book is a complete surprise. I’m trying this one for the first time this month, so I’ll be back to write an individual review on it!

Once Upon a Book Club
This subscription is $34.99 per month, or less, again depending on the length of your prepaid subscription. There are 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month options as well as month-to-month. There are young adult and adult options with this subscription. You receive one surprise book each month, plus 3-5 wrapped gifts that coincide with a page number. Your gift is to be opened when you reach that page number in the book. Shipping does cost $10 with each box to the United States, and more if you’re outside of the U.S.

The Bookworm Box
The Bookworm Box was founded by romance writer Colleen Hoover. It’s $9.99 per month for the digital subscription and $39.99 for the large box. The large box includes one autographed book, one e-book, one author PinMate, one author letter, 1-2 swag items, and 1 Bookworm Box pen. All profits earned from this subscription box are given to charity. The only two genre options you have with this box are romance or young adult, and each month, the books are a surprise.

This subscription starts at $20.99 per month and you can choose monthly or bi-monthly. The box includes self-care items from small businesses plus a book that has been given great reviews.
