Have you ever wanted to crochet a chicken that looks like one of those chicken kitchen timers? Well, here you go. It definitely wasn’t my intention when I started designing this pattern, but I love how it turned out. I cracked up when one of my testers compared it to the kitchen timer. This will make a great gift for the chicken lover.

Round 4: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, inc. Repeat 5 more times. (24)
Round 5: 1 sc in next 3 stitches, inc. Repeat 5 more times. (30)

Round 11: 1 sc in next 5 stitches, inc. Repeat 5 more times. (42)
Round 12: 1 sc in each stitch around (42)
Change to red. However, do not cut your white yarn. Carry through the first stitch of Round 13. You will pick it back up in Round 14.
Round 13: In the flo, 3 hdc in each stitch around. Sl st into the first hdc of the round. (126)
Round 14: Picking your white yarn back up, sc into each un-used back loop of the previous round. See photo below. You can now fasten off your red yarn. (42)

Round 15-17: 1 sc in each stitch around (42)
Round 18: 1 sc in next 5 stitches, inv dec. Repeat 5 more times. (36)
Round 19: 1 sc in each stitch around (36)

Round 21: 1 sc in each stitch around (30)

If you haven’t yet, place safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, 3 stitches apart. Begin stuffing.
Round 23: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, inv dec. Repeat 5 more times. (18)
Round 24: 1 sc in next stitch, inv dec. Repeat 5 more times. (12)
Round 25: inv dec around (6)
Fasten off, leaving a longer tail to sew the hole closed.
Beak
The beak is a little tricky with working in tight spaces, but I promise it’s possible!
With yellow, make a MC.
Round 1: 2 sc in MC (2)
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch (4)
Round 3: 1 sc in next stitch, inc. Repeat 1 more time. (6)
Round 4: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, inc. Repeat 1 more time. (8)
Sl st into the next 3 stitches to level out the round, then fasten off. Leave a tail to sew beak onto head around rounds 8-9. Flatten the beak as you sew.
Make sure to flip your beak right side out. Your beginning tail should be on the inside of the beak. If it’s easier, just pull the tail through the inside of the beak.

Comb
Step 1: With red, join to the head between Rounds 2 and 3. You are going under a stitch horizontally that should be about center between the eyes. See photos 1&2.
Step 2: Chain 4. 1 dc into the 4th chain from hook.
Step 3: Sl st under the next stitch back (toward the back of the head). See Photo 3.
Step 4: Chain 4. 1 dc into the 4th chain from hook.
Repeat steps 3-4 one more time. Sl st under the next stitch back. Fasten off and weave ends.
