Table of Contents

Introducing the free version of this beginner-friendly Fox Lovey free crochet pattern. This pattern works up quickly and makes for great gifts for baby showers, birthdays, and more. As always, be cautious with using safety eyes on toys for small children. As an alternative, you may embroider eyes or crochet eyes to sew on.

Materials

Yardage

Rust: 168 yards

White: 6 yards

Black: 40 yards

Terms & Stitches to Know

  • dc – double crochet
  • inc – increase
  • inv dec – invisible decrease
  • mc – Magic Circle
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch

Gauge

15 single crochet x 13 rows = 4″

Notes

  • Head and ears are worked in continuous rounds. No join stitches after each round.
  • On the head, when making color changes between white and rust, do not cut the yarn. Work it through your stitches and pick it back up again with the color change.
  • When making the blanket, it will not lay flat past round 3.
  • For the blanket, chain 2s are not included in final stitch counts. Thus, the stitch count at the end of the rounds in the blanket portion are dc stitches only.
  • Beginning in round 4 and then throughout the blanket, chain 3s at the beginning of the round ARE counted as a double crochet stitch.
