  • Worsted Weight Yarn (4) in Grey and Color of Choice for Heart
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Terms to Know:

Notes/Tips:

  • Carry yarn throughout the heart shape rather than cutting and joining the yarn in every row. To do so, weave unused color through stitches. I have a quick tutorial on how I weave in my ends and color changes if you need help with this.

On first side, fasten off and weave in ends. On second side, do not cut yarn.

Attaching Sides:

When finished with second side, align the pieces so the corners match. At this point, also make sure to face the sides out that you want to see. Since you turn for each row, the hearts on each side may look slightly different.

Going through both pieces with your hook:

  • Single crochet down the side, making your own spaces in each row as you go.  At this point, there should be 21 single crochets.
  • Chain 2 at the corner.
  • Single crochet in the next 15 stitches across the bottom. You’ll be crocheting into the beginning chains you made.
  • Chain 2 at the corner.
  • Single crochet back up the other side, making your own spaces in each row as you go. There should be 21 single crochets.
  • Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Tie:

Chain 60. Tie off.

Using crochet hook, weave in and out of the posts of the single crochet stitches. I alternated every other stitch, but you can weave through however many stitches you want to achieve your desired look. Then, tie in front and trim ends to desired length.
