My Overall Thoughts on After Anna by Lisa Scottoline
Holy. Cow. I suppose that wraps up my thoughts on After Anna by Lisa Scottoline. I’m not sure there was a point while reading this on that my heart wasn’t racing. I was constantly waiting for the next shoe to drop. What’s coming next? Oh my word, how is he/she going to get out of this mess?! I went from shock, to “eek”, to crying, multiple times.
Multiple timelines are often hard for me to follow. In the beginning of this book, I didn’t mind it, though. It seemed to work well. However, then the timelines started to misalign a bit and you would find yourself hearing about the same exact event twice. It was a little redundant, but it didn’t really affect my love for the story. I do think After Anna by Lisa Scottoline was very well written. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
I found myself rooting for the characters, feeling bad for them, and then being disgusted with them. Lisa Scottoline did an amazing job at keeping you guessing through most of the story, so you didn’t know the entire truth. Did he do this? Did she lie about that? While it kept you guessing, the story wasn’t confusing. It felt easy to follow to me, even though there were quite a few characters of which to keep track.
I’m not kidding when I say you’ll feel all of the feelings while reading through After Anna by Lisa Scottoline. You want it all to work out in the end, and while it might not for everyone, I was very pleased with the closure.
Would I Recommend After Anna by Lisa Scottoline?
Absolutely! I’m hoping to get my to-be-read stack down so I can pick up some more of her books. As a trigger warning, there is sexual content and sexual abuse mentioned in this book, as well as postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis.
