There are so many different subscription boxes out there to choose from, so how do you know which one to pick? I’ve tried a couple, and with this review I’m hoping to help you decide which one(s) is right for you! Let’s dive into one of my favorites. Here’s my Book of the Month subscription review.
What is Book of the Month?
Book of the Month is a subscription services that offers books! Each month, there are typically five main picks and four add-on options to choose from. The books tend to be new or early releases. The books are all vetted by a team at Book of the Month, and they truly take their job seriously. You can select 1-3 books each month to add to your box.
Book of the Month has been around for years. They actually started in 1926, so they have a bit of experience picking out some amazing books. In my time as a member, I’ve rarely not gotten three books in each box. It has helped me reach outside of my comfort zone and choose books or genres (*cough* non-fiction *cough*) that I may not have normally chosen.
What kinds of books does the Book of the Month subscription have?
Just looking back at the past few months, there have been so many different genres in only two months. If there’s a genre you’re looking for, it’s likely that the Book of the Month subscription has it. They may not have every genre every month, but you can also add past books to your box, as long as they’re not sold out. Here are the genres from just one month of main picks and add-on books:
- Romance
- Contemporary Fiction
- Thriller
- Short Stories
- Non-Fiction
- Sci-Fi
- Young Adult
- Biography
What does it cost?
You can get your first book for only $9.99. These are hardcover books, so that’s a great deal. After that, it is $14.99 per month. Any additional books (add-ons) are $9.99 each. Shipping is free, but depending on your state, you will pay taxes. As I mentioned above, I usually fill my box with three books, and it costs me around $35 per month. I still think that’s a great deal for three hardcover books!
There is an annual subscription as well! The costs is $149.99, which works out to $12.50 per book. Your add-ons will still cost $9.99 each.
Do I have to get a book every month?
Nope. You can skip months if you already have too many books to read, or if you don’t see anything you’d like to add to your box. You can also cancel at any time.
How do I try it?
Head right over to the Book of the Month subscription website and get signed up! Make sure to check the header in their website for any available coupon codes!
